Terms of service

These terms apply when you use the Cifra or Quantum Crypto wallet apps. They are an agreement between you and Quantum Encoding Europe Limited, a company registered in Ireland (No. 807205), registered office The Black Church, St. Mary’s Place, Dublin D07 P4AX, Ireland, which provides the apps together with its affiliate Quantum Encoding Ltd, a company registered in England (No. 16575953) (“we”). By using the apps you accept them.

A self-custody wallet

• The apps create and keep your recovery phrase and private keys on your device. We never have them, so we can never move your funds, freeze them, or get them back for you.
• You are responsible for keeping your recovery phrase safe. Anyone who has it controls your funds. If you lose it and lose your device, nobody can recover your wallet.
• Transactions on a blockchain can’t be reversed. Check the address, the network and the amount before you approve; the app shows you the details of what you are signing.

What we are not

We provide wallet software. We are not a bank, an exchange, a custodian or a financial adviser, we do not hold your crypto or your money, and nothing in the apps is financial, investment or tax advice. The value of crypto can fall fast, and you can lose what you put in.

Buying and selling through partners

• Buying and selling crypto for money is provided by third-party partners, currently MoonPay and Alchemy Pay, in their own windows inside the app and under their own terms. They verify your identity, take or pay out the money, and decide whether to accept a transaction. Your contract for a purchase or sale is with them.
• Quotes shown in the app are estimates. The partner shows the final price, fees included, before you pay.
• Buying and selling are offered only where we and the partner offer them, which we judge by the country you connect from. Crypto-to-crypto swaps are not currently offered.

Fees

The apps are free. When you buy or sell crypto through a partner in the app, we receive a fee of 1% of the transaction amount, which is included in the price the partner shows you before you pay. The partner also charges its own fees, and the blockchain charges network fees, both shown before you confirm.

Using the apps

You must be 18 or over and allowed to use the apps where you live. Don’t use them for anything unlawful, including to evade sanctions or to launder money, and don’t try to interfere with our servers or other people’s use of them.

Changes and availability

We improve the apps over time and may change or withdraw features, or stop offering a partner. The servers the apps use may sometimes be unavailable. Your funds stay on the blockchain and under your control, and your recovery phrase works in other wallets that support the same standards.

Our responsibility

We provide the apps with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for losses caused by someone else obtaining your recovery phrase or device, by partners, blockchains or networks we don’t control, or by changes in the value of crypto. Apart from that, our total liability to you is limited to the fees we received from your transactions in the 12 months before the claim, or €100 if that is more.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. If you are a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in its courts.

Changes to these terms

We will update the date above when these terms change, and tell you in the apps before a significant change applies to you.
